WHAT IS JIAO?
Run by the same team behind Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings, one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in Chicago, its sub-brand JIAO opened in the Loop in October 2019, specializing in the most authentic Chinese soup dumplings.
In the past four years, Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings has been transformed from a tiny kitchen in an underground food court to one of the leading Chinese restaurants in the Chicago area. Your generosity has been invaluable to our team and we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your continued support.
In order to serve more of our soup dumplings, we have decided to open up our second restaurant, JIAO. However, this will not be another Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings; we view it as a unique and innovative restaurant. JIAO will become the first restaurant in the U.S. to offer soup dumplings through a fast-food model.
Since we are committed to the fast-paced lifestyle of downtown Chicago, we chose to abandon the traditional restaurant model and develop our own ordering system. Considering how this was an idea we developed ourselves, we encountered more technical problems than anticipated. Aside from this, our developers spent sleepless nights inventing our own ordering system and testing the system over and over again. Furthermore, due to the federal government shutdown there was a delay in our permit issuing which pushed back our renovations, so the opening date had to be postponed.
Even though we had many setbacks, the support from our customers motivated us to continue. We sent out our first email three months ago. Initially, we anticipated around 500 sign-ups before the grand opening, but to our surprise, it reached over 2000 people. This means a lot to our team; the support we have received is giving us the confidence we need to overcome any further difficulties.
Finally, we are here. JIAO will open in the Loop this October. This is an emotional time for all of us. We believe that as JIAO grows, it will change the Chinese restaurant industry in America; we believe that people will very soon witness the Chinese restaurant industry achieving a new peak in its history. We also believe that one day, everyone will fall in love with JIAO, a food brand that was born, sprouted, and is based in Chicago.
